Surgery – placement of the MIDBAND™:
It is expected that the MIDBAND™ will be placed by minimal invasive surgery (keyhole surgery). A general anaesthetic is used so you will be asleep for this operation.
The MIDBAND™ is fitted via a 12mm trocar.
Gastric banding procedure is considered to be reversible – with another keyhole operation.

Over a period of time the band can be adjusted (inflated/’filled’) during an outpatient appointment in a specialist weight loss surgery centre.
Such Multi Disciplinary Teams [MDT] provide a holistic approach to weight loss and associated surgery for the treatment of obesity.
The MDT provides extensive pre operative assessment and information to those considering surgery together with information about the possible risks, side effects and benefits involved.
Commitment by the client and the specialized obesity centre to life long follow up is essential in contributing to the best possible weight loss outcome. It is during this life long follow up that not only probable weight loss may be seen but detection of any possible complications or side effects may be detected and addressed accordingly
